Kids' Karate

Will go on Hiatus for the Summer:

The Kids’ Karate program will be going on hiatus (that means “vacation,” kids) after Tuesday, June 11, 2013 until late Summer.  Have a wonderful and safe summer, enjoy your time running around outdoors, and we’ll see you back here training with us in September!

A Little Note About Advancement

We count DOWN in “kyu” (preliminary ranks) until we reach the doorstep of the “Dan” levels (various ranks of black belt).  So: 8th kyu = yellow, 7th kyu = blue, 6th kyu = green, 5th and 4th kyu = purple, 3rd, 2nd and 1st kyu = brown… then Sho-Dan = 1st degree black belt, Ni-Dan = 2nd degree, San-Dan = 3rd degree, and so forth.

By the way, for you trivia hounds: “Dan” means “step”.  So at Sho-Dan, you’ve completed your first “step” on the journey.

When classes resume in late Summer, there will be students in our Kids' Classes preparing for 8th, 6th, and 4th kyu ranks!
